Well, I have my first 914 repair related question.

This morning the heater stopped blowing hot air into the cabin. I checked the fan in the engine bay to make sure it was working and it is still blowing hard. What other peices can I check? What does the little hand lever next the shifter actually move when you pull up on it? Anyone have any experience with this and can suggest a way to fix it?

The lever operates the flappers on the heat exchangers
Maybe the cables are stuck or broken, or the flappers them selves are stuck...

Good luck

Crawl under the car and look at the heat exchangers. You'll see what looks like a vent on each one, with a little arm coming out of each one. (Is that clear?) There should be a cable attached to each arm. When you pull the red lever, it pulls the arms and opens the heater flaps. Have somebody operate the lever while you're under the car. you should be able to tell if they're working.

On my car, the cable was missing. I replaced it with a tandem bike brake cable. It was about $5 from the local bike shop.

Once you're under there, everything should be pretty clear.
