I have a '72 1.7 with a strange headlight problem. When I got the car, one of the wires was off the motor. As the headlight switch was activated, only one light would pop up. When I touched the broken wire to the terminal, the other popped up. I had it soldered, but now, they pop up, but they are not in sync with each other and alternate up and down, not together, but opposite to each other, for 8 or 10 times until they fianally stay up together. We tried a new headlight relay, but that did nothing.

Any ideas what to look at and what else to check?? I am stumped!

Thanks for your help !!!

You need to adjust the position of the arms that go from the motor to the lights.

There's a thread about how to do that here somewhere, let me see if i can find it ...

All 914s will do that if you rapidly work the switch a few times ...............

Think of it as a "feature". The Cap'n
