EMPI stand for $30. JC Whitney. Click here for a link.

I welded mine to the top of a $30 Harbor Freight engine stand. Worked like a charm. They are designed to be bolted to a work bench (which had better be stout and bolted to the floor or wall).

Please don't both with the $300 special Porsche engine stand adapter.

If you buy a normal engine stand and modify the outer edge of each of the tubes so they are notched, that works fine.
The difference is that the flywheel needs to turn while its on the stand.
The notches in the end of the tubes allow that to happen.

I had a basic harbor Freight stand that I modified. I added a strip of 3/4 inch steel to the ends of two of the tubes. I first ground the inside of the tubes to match the curvature of the engine case, and then bolted the tubes to the metal strips before welding. This provided a little more support to the housing. This was for the first half of the housing. When I got the second half of the housing, I just added a C clamp to the overall mount to provide some added stability. I assembled the engine without flywheel, and removed the engine from the stand to assemble flywheel and adjust clearances.

Excellent product.
He makes 2, 3 and 4 arm yokes.
