what color where you thinking?
after hunting for more then a year for some good original finished pedrinnis,
I opted to paint mine.
I went with Würth silver wheel paint topped with Würth gloss clear. this was per
some recommendations found on this site.
I think they look extremely nice. a lot thicker then the original coating. kind of
look like powdercoating with 3 coats silver and 2 coats clear. very strong and
durable paint... especially for "rattle can".
I don't have pics yet, as Im still don't have them all on the car. Im in the middle
of rear bearing replacement. will post some soon.

When you paint wheels the thicker the paint it usually means they will chip easier but thats just my experience. I just did my sons super beetle empi knockoffs with a basecoat clearcoat over the epoxy primer. I wish I would have taken a little more time sanding the chips in the old finish out a little better. The spokes have a cast texture and I was afraid the smooth places would show more than the chips but it didn't come out as perfect as I would have liked. But it is just a bug.

I used the same paint and method from this video. I expected some paint might get scratched off on the edges when the tires were mounted, but it stayed.

That should look nice. There is a guy on theSamba.com who sells black lug bolts for our wheels. Post a pic when you are done.
