Hi all, I was wondering if anyone has a recommendation of a reputable/experienced mechanic who KNOWS 914s in Mid or Northern New Jersey. Any info would be greatly appreciated... Thanks...

Marko,
Try either Bob Kakascik at European Performance Center in Garfield, or Keith Peare at Powertech in Rockaway. Both are very good 914 mechanics, and both race them too (when they have the chance). Bob did all the work on my 914 when I lived there (he also owns Stable Energies - (www.stable-energies.com) . I'm not sure, but I heard he may only be taking work for race cars, so Powertech (www.pwr-tech.com) may be a better option, though I would call both.

Bob at Stable Energies is good...but very busy. Where are you located? There is another option. A "retired" P-mechanic does some work on the side.....Rory who lives in Paramus.

Thanks for the leads, I'd also be interested in finding a 914 member who would be interested in looking at a car this Wednesday morning (4/8)perhaps if someones interested. I'll gladly compensate your time for helping me out on a pre-inspection of a car that's for sale... I will call those shops, but I have a feeling they won't be able to take a look at the car on such short notice...

Contact me if you can lend some time in the morning,
Marko

Where is the car located? I might be able to help. I just can't drive very far currently do to a neck problem. I'm located near Wayne. Gene at Autohaus in Chatham is also very good with 914's. 973 701 8300.
