So Moby is coming home Friday. It currently has outdated Simpson 5pt with the latch & link style system. This will work for now for AXing, but I would like to change over to the Cam-lock style latch setup.

My Driver/AX 914 has the G-Force 5pt style with Cam-lock and I like it. So....... for track use is there any reason G-Force vs RJS vs RCI vs Simpson is better or worse. What belts are you guys using and why.

Thanks beer.gif

For the track cars we use these:

All the trick new adjusters and they fit / work perfect.

A bit pricy, but well worth the money when it comes to safety. flag.gif

Belts are one place I rarely compromise. Schroth all the way. I have same belts Randal has on his track car.

Which ever brand you buy, make sure it is FIA dated as that date over rules the date tag on the manufacture lable and generally will make the belt set last longer. The FIA tag is seperate and usually on the side of one of the shoulder belts.

So what makes them better than the others?

Good question. I found a good discussion here:

Well that cleared things up blink.gif

Just a heads up, as it seems Schroth is now offering a lower priced belt for all the reasons noted.

I have the G-Force belts driver and passenger and have been very happy. I have not had any issues with adjustability that some say, and nor have any passengers of mine.

The only heresay i have on Schroth was one driver at a club race at Pueblo maybe 6 or 7 years ago. He said he got the Schroth because their webbing had a little more give to it, which was supposed to absorb some of the impact forces. For this driver, the give was enough for both his hands to go into (and through) his gauge cluster when he went head on into the interior wall on the main straight. Painful as he says it...

I have Schroth in my Boxster. My only complaint is I have trouble getting the last belt into the camlock, especially wearing wrist restraints. It has to be at the exact angle or it won't go. I didn't have that problem with the G-Force I had in the 914.
After a year and a half, the mechanism seems to be loosening up and it's slides in a little easier lately.

I was at a NASCAR shop were they had a comprehensie test done on the dynamic and stretch test of all safety belts made. Simpson and Schroth were the top two. I can't rember witch one was #1, but it was one of the two. It was amazing to see how much they stretch under load. If you are over 180lb. Simpson platinum cam locks are your best bet. I have always used Simpson belts in my race cars. I would not recomend G-Forse for 2 reasons.

1. You want to use the best safety equipment, even if it is more expensive. You only have one life. How much is your life worth?

2. I bought a G-Force window net and in less than a year it had deteriorated. It wasn't abused and the car was garaged, so there was no UV abuse. I don't know if it matters but they are made in China. Sorry but I wouldn't risk my life on any G-Force product. Just my opinion.
