i have a 74 2.0 with vacumm advance dist. i want to pull it and make sure it is operable.. where do i start..

Apply vacuum to the vac port and watch the distriutor plate to make sure it reacts. Ofcourse, if the vac canister won't maintain vac, then it is kaput, and ofcourse they are NLA.

When setting dynamic timing, if the timing mark jumps around, the shaft bushings are gone. If the bushings are gone the car will also run like crap.

If you have a d-jet car, you need to check the injector points.
