Hey Doc, I just recalled my speedo angle drive probably needs a new o ring and seal while I am doing everything else. Is this something you can supply or do you have a recommendation where we can find them?
Carl, the seal kit has ALL of the seals in it

Bernie, if you are willing to sell those gears I know of many people who want them

Update: Well its been a long last few days of dealing with the fires. But I wont to thank some of you guys that where so generous in offering to help me evacuate cars and other property as needed. Alls good now and the event is only days away so see you all soon.
We are thinking of having a donation food & BBQ going all day both days so we expect to have drinks and such But BYOB, (I don’t drink) but your more than welcome to. Also there is a POOL so feel free to dive in and to stay cool. Bring your favorite CDs.
My lady also welcomes any of your wife’s or girlfriends to hang out with, as she will be dealing with food on her own. Should be a great event.

I was out of town last week and didn't get your post about last day for ordering parts...anyway I'm including several pictures of my gear stack, hopefully won't need any parts although the pinon gear doesn't look so red hot.

WOW! I cant tell much from the pics as far as sliders and such, but your pinion is far beyond gone. I have NEVER seen one that bad. The bearing at the end of the pinion is toast as well. Please tell me this was a donor and not the one you were planning on rebuilding. You need to source a different box to rebuild as that one is done. Sorry

I'd like to tell you that it was a donor but it wasn't, it was the one that I was planning on rebuilding...back to square one I guess.

The chance of you finding another in that shape is very slim. Dont feel too bad, there should be some parts that are usable out of it and that will save you $$ in the long run. Someone had to really do some ignoring to make the box end up like that.

When I first got the car I could hardly hear the engine, I drained the oil and was shocked by first, the amount of metal that came out (now I know where from) and second, the viscosity of the oil, must of been about a 10 wt synthetic. I put schaeffers 80-90 wt in and the noise has been slowly going away, at least to the point that I was able to again hear the engine again. But with the amount of metal that came out on that first oil drain I'm not to surprised with the turn of events. Anyway just bought a transmission up in Victorville, hopefully between the two of them I'll have one that is salvageable

Add me to the list.. I will be spectating on Saturday, unless my trans blows up between now and then.. I won't be wearing a thong over my head, but let me know if you would like me to bring some snacks or brewskies so I don't feel so guilty!!

+3 on the directions too.... been a while since I've been there.
Mike, is going through two boxes a one day or two day event? I'm trying to figureout whether I need a motel for Sat. night. Regardless, I have a 4 1/2 hour drive and am trying to figure the best plan.
Dr. are you thinking the tranny festivities to start at 8:00 or so Sat. morning??
Are we all pitching some cash in for food or??
Dr Evil
Sep 13 2009, 08:31 PM
Time depends on hours, not days. We started about 9-10am on Sat and I finally called it quits at midnight. All but 4 people were done the first day. The next day we started about 10-11am and were done by 3pm. Start times are best if later in the morning for many reasons; Joe's place is about 1 hour away (that is where I am staying), I am not a morning person, and I will work late with no problem.
If we can do 10am start that would kick ass for me

That's a tough demand after drinking beer until 3:30 on Friday night, er, Saturday morning. I think we got rolling around 9, started turning wrenches around 10, and went 'till midnight. Then we stopped working ad started drinking beer again... well, actually, we had been drinking beer since after noon...

Thanks everyone for all the offers to bring food to the upcoming event. My plan is to have enough food & drinks (Soda and water) for lunch both Sat, & Sun 22 people. Still BYOB and bring your swim trucks if you wont to swim in the logon. All food & drinks are donation friendly see the box.
Saturday: Chicken like stuff maybe wings and veggie platter, fruit, chips.
Sunday: Burgers, Dogs, some sides from Costco. Lots of fruit both days.
Both mornings croissants, fruit and OJ maybe some eggs off the grill can happen.
If the event dose go into the dinner hour we can order Pizza or?????? .
Suggestion are welcomed. I should be shopping on Wednesday or Thursday night.
If you have a Picture CD you would like to share bring it along
Lets get a time set here I am a early bird 5;30 type, I have to hope for 9-10am??. Going to late into the night is not neighbor friendly.
Our you guys will show up and I will have you working on cars until the event gets under way.

Leamon,
There is a travel inn less than a mile from your place...will it do for an overnighter? Or is there a motel you would suggest fairly close?
I appreciate the sleeping bag offer, which I still may take you up on, but my body revolts when it doesn't get a bed...LOL. I guess I'm getting old.
