I looked up under the car to find that the previous owner had used duck taped to hold the shift protector boot in place. Naturally, after I removed it - it wasnt going back on. So i ordered another one from Pelican today.

My question is - when I replace the boot, do I need to apply any lubricant to the mechanism, and if so, what type of lubricant should I use?

I am also going to replace the transmission fluid - what type of fluid should I use, and should I add any type of additive?

Thanks

It seems most folks like the Swepco lube (I believe Pelican has it)

What part(s) of the mechanism are you talking about?
