Hey it's my car's evil red twin! it sounds very similiar to my beast,, but alas it's not mine and I never seen that one before. I had the sound off on my PC,, but then I noticed it was labeled 914RX,,, then the sound on my speakers was turned up. biggrin.gif

IMHO rotary conversions are one of the rare-er conversions,, it's not even listed as an option when newbs want to poll other engine options! Now that's the third one I've ever seen in about 5 years of searching,,, and "lybones" (a member here) went V8 after his turbo rotary went bloooooiiiieeee.

I hope it's someone else who posts here,,,,,, let's see more pics!! (I should talk)

Looks like the car from Vegas that was on Craigslist for $9500. I've got more pics of it at home I can post later.

Sure enough. Here's the text from his ad:

This is a vintage 1974 Porsche 914, mid-engine, targa top, classic sports car that has just been refurbished. The intent of the build was for a fun street car that could play at the track / autocross / rally cross / drift / hillclimbs…you get my point, it was built to be driven for fun! It’s not a show car trailer queen, this car can be driven every day to work, or on the weekends at the track. Now, here comes this list of what has been PROFESSIONALLY done: The power comes from a Mazda rotary 13B engine that was built up by Atkins Rotary Specialists in Puyallup, WA. The engine has a street port intake and stock exhaust port. The engine produces exactly 200 hp with a Weber SP 50 side-draft carb and Racingbeat intake manifold & custom exhaust header that runs into a SS 930 muffler. The car was completely gutted and what little signs of surface rust have been sandblasted, acid treated and sealed with Metal-Loc primer. This was a Southern Nevada car so it was not rusty, and even the battery tray area was still intact. The drivers compartment and engine bay/rear suspension has been reinforced with 1.5” x .120” roll bar tubing. Then the interior/ engine bay / trunk were sprayed with epoxy bed liner. The exterior was sprayed with SEM Hot-Rod Black and Centari Spitfire Orange both in a matte finish. The bottom pan, front compartment and wheel wells are in original condition, except for the addition of a massive Afco aluminum radiator in the nose…This car is CLEAN and very tidy. The interior was re-upholstered to near original, kind of retro-RS look. All the mechanical bushings, guides, cables, and brake components have been replaced. All the electrical has been thinned out and is in good working condition. The transmission has been torn down and gone through, all syncros and gears are in good shape and it shifts extremely well. Essentially everything to operate the car has been replaced or rebuilt with new parts. However, I have not done much with the weather stripping/ trim except where it was needed, as I don’t drive the car during inclement weather. The car weighs approx 2000 lbs, with 200hp and all manual controls this car is all about the feel and sound of motoring. I have the complete documentation and receipts of all the work that has been done. The car runs great & the sound is very unique with the mazda rotary bark muffled by the 930’s deep tone. By the way, I’m selling it because we have our 1yr old baby boy,a second baby girl on the way, and a shop full of race cars, so unfortunately some of the toys must go. Come and see, then make an offer if you like. For serious drivers only please, this is not intended to be stored away in some garage. For all you Porsche purists…sorry I got the car without an engine, and someone had already started a V8 conversion. If you are skeptical of mazda rotary motors, I can personally guarantee, this is the most reliable and durable racing motor I have ever used. I have owned everything from Karts to Indy lights cars, and a mazda rotary is my #1 most practical choice!
PS: I will also sell the car without the Mazda RX7 13b rotary engine if you’re looking to do a V8 conversion or some other transplant. I’m not interested in selling the rotary engine unless it’s with the car though as it was quite an expensive unit ($5,000 to me) and I can find another use for it some day.
No scam, fraud, or flaky out of state deals: Per NRS 203- any unlawful activity will be reported to the Nevada Attorney General’s office. Feel free to e-mail or call me @ 702-287-8278 if you are a serious buyer. I have one year of labor into this car and $9227 in major parts cost alone, not counting all the hardware and parts I already had on hand. So please don’t call asking for my lowest price. If you are a real buyer, you will come to see and drive this machine first. If you think you can build one, of this quality, for less money… GO FOR IT!!! Thanks for looking!

Tires and wheels would have to go (front 916 bumper also), but other than that it looks cool.
