Hi Guys,

Have I got your attention yet. rolleyes.gif

I stopped by the local RM Auction showroom in Ypsi, MI in my travels today. They are prepping some of the finest big buck classics & odd balls in the country for their next Barrett Jackson, etc. auction. Everything from gull wing benz's, Alfa's, Healey's, Packard's to name a few. Thought you guys would like to see this Tommy Ivo (4) Buick Nail Head Engine Dragster. If you guys say nice things, I'll post more pics later this evening on other eye candy pieces. w00t.gif

Wow what an engine. When I first got my dirver's license, mom and dad had a '63 Buick Wildcat convertable with the 401. What a car!

Would not... You wouldn't ever get the polish can out of your hand long enough.

didn't they not let him run that, due to rules on whatever?

Great shots! That looks like a monster. Must have been cool to walk around it.

I read he was a true showman. His haulers looked more like display cases.

Tom :

What memories you bring ,( and on my 71 st. B.Day today) I saw Ivo run

many times at Detroit Dragway on Sibley Rd. Both the 4 Engine car ,and the 2. I

think he was the 1 st, real showman in drag racing. Before Kenny Ber. & John

Force. They use him as a model, that later became the industry standard.

As for the Buick nail head, myself & 2 other kids , stuffed one in Austin

Healy, with a cam, and log manofold with 6 Strombergs on super stock tires. The

thing I remember the most was , after launch when you pulled 2 ed gear all Yes

all 4 wheels jumped straight up off the ground. Oh boy did we think that was neet.

Again thanks for the memories.. Dave ( old school is cool) pray.gif

Mike Bernard in Axtel, TX. has a race motor shop and has had a austin healey with a 427 sbc forever. Outside pipes and the works. He showed it to my 27 year old one day and my son didn't know what it was.
