After wheeling the roller into the sunshine and clearing 2 years of dust and some crud still in the wheelwells these parts were laying in the driveway. It was down by the passenger rear wheel well but could have come form anywhere as there was water and air involved.

This must come from somewhere obvious but got me stumped.

Thanks Bob, if that is what it is must have fallen when I dropped the engine and lodged itself somewhere !

i think the gasket is from where the heat exchange clamps to the fan housing (by where the flap is from)

That gasket used to be foam that was glued to the flap.

Agree! The flap is the flap, but the gsket was never cork(looks like), but foam with a n adhesive backing.
