Could someone please post some photos of the vacuum line placements. I got the vacuum line kit from AA and for the life of me can't figure it out. The PO apparantly did not like the way the lines were suppose to run so he made his own creation. Has lines capped with screws, some are not even there. Added a "y"fitting with a roll of electrical tape and so on. Please post some clear photos for someone mentally challenged(myself) Its a 72 with the 1.7 fuel injected. Thanks for your time.

Thank you Rand for the photos. I may just have to post photos of the areas I have in question. I have several hoses running under my air cleaner and connected to a 2-branched elbow. I dont see any of that in any photos. It may be a PO special. I will have to get some photos when there is better daylight. Thanks for the reply.

The diagram is more useful IMHO, all those "extra" hoses are the FI and many are the same colour.
Do one at a time, look/feel for each connection, It's not that hard.

My problem is I already found 2 that were going to the wrong place. So the incorrect spot needs a hose. Then there are a few missing hoses so I do not know what should go where. I wish I was able to just remove a hose and add a new one in its spot but thats not an option.

I guess those pics dont help that they are 2.0's instead of 1.7's either.
If your car has the earlier style of FI it may look something like this:(I know its only a diagram but I have a 2.0L)

The 1.8 is much different, but I thought the 1.7 and 2.0, both being DJet, would be similar. Are there many differences?

They had that sideways throttlebody, oily aircleaner thing.
If you check the link you'll see a 'pic' of what they look like. Never actually seen one. But they were out there.
Maybe only on Grasshoppers

If you can post a pic.... to get a sense of the problem, it may help us.
IMHO. I went through a similar problem with my 1.7 from the PO. I have a 73 1.7 D-jet. I used the Pelican diagram but it is only schematic.
Anyway not sure about your 1.7 being a 72. If I saw a picture that would help?

I have a 72 1.7... If I could post pictures I would but for some reason when I click on add this attachment it looks like it is working and then when it is done no picture is there. I've posted them before so i'm not sure what is going on. I'll try again later.

Perfect! Thats exactly what I needed! That valve with the 3 hoses is not even hooked up on mine. Could you possibly get one from under the air cleaner assembly? You are saving me quit a few headaches. Thank you

This is the photo posted from underthetire. The 2 areas in the yellow somewhat of a circle are not even hooked up on mine. This is an idea of what I am dealing with. More photos please. I want to take this for its final run and want it off the jackstands. Thanks

Click to view attachmentSorry, all that crap is gone now with the megasquirt. The circle on the left on mine (73) is the PCV valve. That goes directly to the intake plenum. On a 72 it might not have the valve. It would just go to the aircleaner then. The circle on the left goes from the Y to the small fitting to operate it. The other goes to the air cleaner, and one more to the plenum. It open during decel to allow extra air into the manifold. This part is really not needed. The euro cars didn't have it.

I can send you pics of my 73 stock config when I get home from work.
My decel valve (right circle) was not hooked up either.
I can post later this evening if you like. My quess is that you may want the air cleaner off so that you can see most of the hoses.... que no?

Pictures would be great. Without air cleaner would be even better. No hurry though. I do not plan to do anything else with it until the weekend. Thanks in advance.

Click to view attachmentHere are some pics with the air cleaner off and on. I was working on the car anyway. I believe the pic schematic from Jeff Bowlsby is the same one I used.
One difference I noted on my car is that only one head had the " breather" on it. Other that that my car is pretty much like the schematic and runs really good with the stock FI... over 30 MPG.
My engine isn't eye porn....yet..... doing it slowly cause I like driving it on the weekends.
I can post more if you like.... I am sure other peeps on here may know more than myself. This is a great site for these cars.

Click to view attachmentLooks like I'll have to photo edit to identify. Anyway here is another. Check out the custom intake boot that I made
Home Depot 1 1/2 no hub coupling.
Worked like a charm. Just got in a new reproduction mold of it from George at AA.
Pretty good repro for the price. Little flash on the inside which I took out with a sharp linoleum knife.... I knew there was some reason I kept one in the toolbox.

Bob: If you are going to be East of downtown this weekend, you are welcome to stop by and look at my 73 1.7. It still has the FI system on it. I did remove the decel valve a bunch of yrs ago after talking to Brad Mayeur and I can't recall where those hoses were orginally connected to, but everything else is where it is supposed to be. Let me know if you want to stop and take a peek.

Thanks Ed! I think with the photos posted here I have enough to improvise. If not, Brian is coming over saturday I would guess he knows what to do. Thanks again for the offer.
