Cam is a Raby 9530
Engine is a 2056
Deckheight is .040
Dizzy is a mallory, and I am using a bosch blue coil.
induction is through dual IDF44

At what engine RPM should I set my timing, and how much advance do I want to use? I know I don't want to do it at idle, but I don't know at what RPM I should target.

Thanks!

You want full advance Zack. I do it at about 3500 RPM and 32* just to be sure.

For years the standard with a Mallory w/ gray/gray springs has been 12* @ idle and 28*@ 3K. Jake will probably chime in with different numbers now that I've posted those. biggrin.gif

Zach, 3k rpms at 28 degrees is safe...any more and you may end to advanced.
You dont want to have detonation.

At 3k-3500 the distributor (any distributor) is at full advance. This is the best place to know for sure what the timing will be at full advance.
