Okay so I bought another 914. It s a 73 2.0 with a build date of 05/73. Car is Alaskan blue metallic. It looks to have had one reapaint & may not be an exact match to stock. Pretty close though if not. Front trunk is in good shape. Rear trunk has rust as well as rear lid. There are a few rust bubbles in spots. Also the hell hole is pretty bad. This will probably be on the shelf for a while. I do plan to restore this though. Once the LE creamsicle is done & gone it will get it's turn.
Car runs & will drive but calipers need rebuilt. No pads in them now. Easier to move it around that way. Does have 4 lug Fuchs all around. They are just under the car. It has some crappy vw rollers on it except for one Fuch up front. 2 Fuchs have curb rash on them. Overall I'm excited to have another 73 2.0. This was the car that started the madness for me 12 or 13 years ago. Finances forced me to sell it & I've regretted it for years. So I can restore this one & I love Alaskan Blue biggrin.gif

Oh the guy was planning on putting a v8 into it. I have the tranny adapater along with the pressure plates for a 350 & a 327. He also happened to have a buick 215 motor sitting in his garage. It needs rebuilt but I got that thrown in too aktion035.gif

I would be interested in the 215 if you decide you want to go another direction. I have a 1954 AH 100-4 project I would like to build with a 215. Oh, BTW nice score!

You know I've been thinking. I'm always screwing with 914's on the side. I think I'm going to name my hobby or maybe disease is a better description. What do you guys think of 914Rustoration. Has a nice ring to it I think idea.gif

Jamie:

I finely figured it out, Your goal is to own every 914 in the P. N. West,

Right? Great score,.just put away carefully, and it will be ready when you are.

Hey Dave someday we are going to meet. LE is coming along. Should get it back from paint in september. Motor is just waiting for me to pick it up. Then it's powdercoated tin put on & it's FI. I am rebuilding the box at PNW Evil tranny clinic next month. Things would go quicker if I was better with my cash. Shouldn't have really bought this car as I need the money for paint. Just can't resist these damn 914's screwy.gif . So my car trailer is going to go up for sale. Which is fine as I bought a flat tow kit.

I can't believe it. When I broght it home this car got claimed by no less than 3 people. First was my father in law. He does this for every one I bring home. It's a standing joke between us. He's had a few to many strokes & can't drive anymore.

2nd was my son who said can I have it for my sweet 16 birthday lol-2.gif . He's ten so dang cute I laughed outright when he said that. I don't think he quite gets the concept of what sweet sixteen means. I did say I'd build one with him when the time was right aktion035.gif .

3rd was my wife saying she wanted it wacko.gif . That amazed me as she hasn't shown much interest before. I figure she was just pulling my leg. Next she says you can teach me how to race it (autoX). I figure she is having fun at my expense. I say you have no idea what you are saying. Your in big trouble now as I'll hold you to it. Still just kidding really. We both laugh & I figure it's over. Today she see's my post on facebook with pictures. She adds to it I'm serious I want that car confused24.gif . Guess she's not kidding & we are going to have another 914 in the carpool for good driving-girl.gif . We just had our 16 year anniversary & I can't remember being so surprised. Except when she actually agreed to marry me anyway.

LOL. Maybe she likes the blue too! driving-girl.gif

My wife is growing fond of my 914.........

SHe is still very scared of the 400hp GTi though. Truthfully I need to get her seat time in it because if it goes into boost and you dont expect it, the car will shoot the fuck off on you.

3 cheers for interested wifes/females/So's!

My buddy just got his wife out of her escort into a race prepped s2000 and she is taking to it like a duck to water.

Jamie :

What do you have in the water out there? Forget the blue one ,restore that

one for your wife!!!! Start looking for another 73 , 2.0 for you . And another one

for your son ( the next 6 yrs. will go by to fast) .

Now I refer you to the first line in my previous post here . Almost scary isn't it.

I know all ,see all!! Dave slap.gif

Would rather preserve a '73 2.0 than convert it. I would rather convert a '75 or '76. Build a nice 2056 for your wife and there will be harmony in the universe.

There's a nice Raby kit for sale in the classifieds from a well known member here. (that has a good reputation)

and I've got a 73 2.0 brain that I can send to you if you decide to go the EFI route for her...

Bring her to a PCA AX, and someone will give her a ride. Then she can talk Misses Bovey into AXing too.

I plan to keep this car stock. No conversions with this car. It just happen to come with some of the pieces. This will be a stock restoration. The rust will be a bit of a chore to get rid of. Still excited to do it
