I think what
really happened was that Porsches' design office was raided by the DGP (Deutsch Geschmack Polizei). The DGP (transl: German "Taste" Police), after suffering through the Cayenne, now having to deal wih the Panamera, received a tip that Porsche was working on a very up-market mini-van. The DGP felt that at this point, the degradation of Porsches' heritage had plummeted to new lows and in the interest of preserving what remained of Porsche's reputation, the mini-van project needed to be stopped.
