If you don't have the part from the trunk floor, it's only a little more work to fabricate the bracket than to fabricate a way to mount it vertically. Just get a nut that fits the hold-down bolt, and weld it to a bracket.
It's easier if you mount the tire the other way around from that shown, as the bracket can be closer to the rear bulkhead.

The reason it's mounted that direction is because it's a 964 spare and has a molded factory foam insert in the wheel to hold the jack, tools etc. If you turned it around they would just fall out.....
All you need to do is buy the ring and wing nut and then weld a threaded rod on a small plate. Drill a hole large enough for the threaded rod to penetrate that firewall area and insert the rod from the gas tank side. Drill through the firewall and through the small plate and use some pop-rivets so that the entire assembly stays in place. Works great, tools are hidden, appears to be factory installed
