a buddy asked me about tire design. yet another topic i now nothing about... so i'd put it to this group:

what's the difference? is it just tread design, or are the guts designed specifically for directional applications.

what else?

I know at least part of it is based on water distribution... directional will move water away from the center of the tire better, at least it's "supposed" to do that, anyway.

it's supposed to lend to better bad weather driving

IMO directional=more noise.
