Wiper seals might do this , but most of these components are in the front compartment , just exactly where are the carpets getting wet ?? All over , driver's side , passenger side , under the seats , foot by the pedals , on the door silss and the adjacent long area ??
I know some will cringe when I say this , in years past some of the old cars I could afford when I was a kid , some would leak from who knows where , I would take a scratch awl and punch a small hole in a few spots to drain the water out , thereby eliminating carpets staying wet , allowing them to drain and dry out. I know this may be a harsh idea , but until you find and stop the leak , you do want to get the water out and not let it sit on the pan starting rust to form , once the =leake is repaired / remedied, you can / or have some one to weldup the small holes left by the scratch awl. AND yes it sounds like a real crazy idea

, to punch holes into floor pans that as a 914 owners we are trying to eliminate.
Good luck...
