I also did my first Type IV rebuild which actually was more complex. I strongly recommend not doing them together as it is hard to figure out what is causing issues.

Runs like a top now. Running the Webcam and it is not having any idle issues. I go to pass Colorado emissions this week and we will see if I pass. I am sure with the injection working correctly it should be no issue.

So I now have basically a mild 2.0L (2.0L heads, Web 73 cam) using the 2.0L injectors. It runs much stronger then the tired 1.7L. It fires up nicely and pulls well in the upper RPMs. It is very fun to drive.

Number one issue that haunted me = Vacuum leaks! Sounds basic but the megasquirt is very sensitive and will not work right. Oh and calibrate your O2 sensor per the directions. (Yes I learned you need to READ all the instructions)

I of course now want more displacement but I will wait for now. 2.5L?

Is it better than carbs? Absolutely! Better than stock? Not if the stock FI is working correctly and you have not changed anything. But if you want to modify the engine you really can’t beat it.

Get the palm tune ! Buy a cheapo old palm on Evilbay for like 5 bucks. Real nice for in car monitoring.

Good idea. Driving with my laptop all the time is getting weird looks!
