As I'm leaving work the other day, I start the car and hit the gas to back out and I hear a snap, and the throttle pedal falls to the floor.
Fortunately, I work in a hospital and found a hemostat clamp nearby which enabled me to get home without the need for a tow. Working the gas with my right hand while shifting with the left wasn't the easiest, but didn't work too bad.

Similar thing happened to me earlier this summer. I never thought I'd drive a car with a hand throttle.

if yours has never been replaced, there are a couple
threads (including mine) about the agony of replacing
the throttle cable.

Its a piece of cake in a street car. Try it in a car with a full roll cage sometime!

i saw those on your thread, chris. freakin' funny.
but if the firewall end of the cable has not been
installed over the tube correctly, it's anything but
a piece of cake!

Wow, based on that thread, I got lucky... it only took me about an hour and a half to remove the remains of the old cable and put the new one in. Doesn't often happen that way, but I'm glad that it did.
