I have a 1974 914 20

how do I tell what size (Lbs) springs I have is there a way that I can measure them in the car or do I have to take them out , I couldn't find any marking on them

Stock were black with a couple of green stripes on one coil.

Any other color could be anything.

They are rated in lbs/in. You would have to remove them and start placing weights on the spring until it depressed one inch. Stock springs are either 90 or 100 lbs/in, depending upon who you want to argue with.

I will look again they are black I'll see if they have green stripes

Go to a auto spring shop and they can probably tell you by checking them. You might want to call around for the price though.
