What is the difference in weight between the stock hood and the CF hood? It looks terrific!

Most likely glass... notice the metal inserts for the hood bolts.

A lot!!!

I bet the c/f hood it about 6-8 pounds. The stock hood is 40+ with hardware.

Well, that did it. I called Neal and ordered a pair.

Hank (GT Racing) agreed to take mine back. If someone's interested in buying mine, call Hank at GT Racing 800-797-2911. He doesn't know I'm making this offer, but I'm sure he'd rather sell them at a discount than take them back.

What's wrong with them? They are a little rough around the edges (the literal edges) and should be sanded and painted instead of being left bare.

Be aware that I will need the shipping box from Getty before I can send the GT Racing decks anywhere and Getty said I was looking at about six weeks for delivery.

I called and spoke with Neal about the lids a couple of weeks ago. He explained that they add inserts into the CF bracing underneath the lids to allow the use of stock hardware. The bracing underneath the hoods are identical to stock with the exception that the cross piece that normally goes along the "rear" edge (edge closest to the windsheild on the front) has been eliminated for additional weight savings.

The CF hoods weigh about 13lbs. ea, he guessed.

I am wondering if the edges will seal as well as a steel lid (assuming new rubbers) if only the stock hinges and latches are used, rather than pins?

Joe, since you've just spent some time working with a big piece of CF (albeit from another vendor), do you think that a CF lid will work well w/o pins?

All,

Stock hood weighted in at 37lbs. according to a bathroom scale. FWIW.

Those lids look fine on a black 914. My car is black and can't wait until my lids come in.

I can only comment on the decks from GT Racing and will let you know when I get the decks from Getty.

Mine are going to be pinned in the front. With the one I have now, there was absolutely no other choice as it would not close properly via the stock latch.
