Over the weekend I went and picked up two nice doors and misc Westy parts. Went to install one of the doors and its off a earlier bus so the hingebolts are different. Great, now to fab something up. Found out why you can't unlock the doors with a key. Hmm, the cam is about to fall off! I will be switching the door handles and that will give me time to fix it right. Here is a pic of the oil temp sender setup I came up with so the Westy will have a oil temp gauge along with CHT and oil pressure.
The 914 news is the pistons are on the way. Hmm, why pistons? Well, there is no way to get new freakin rings for the ones I have so I ordered new ones from Jake. Talked to Len at HAM and the refreshed heads are on their way also!
Damn, progress is slow but its getting there.

Found some cheap 911 struts too so I will be switching over to a Vented 911 disc setup front and rear. In the rear I will use the spacer setup I bought from Dave P.

Finally picked up the bumper for the Westy. Went to take off the old one the PO had made out of metal channel and it was welded on!!! Spend and hour grinding the weld off and finally got it off but I will have to weld in some new metal so the proper bumper will work. Great!!!!! Love DPO's!
Jake is trying to find some decent rings for the 96mm pistons and HAM is shipping the heads out so soon I can start installing all the engine pieces together. beerchug.gif

Got my 914Club name tag today! Also worked on installing shifter bushings on the Westy which really helped. The heads should be back from HAM soon and tomorrow the cam should be back from Jake. I can start assembly on the 2056 soon.
I picked up the 2.0l heads, 94mm Euro p&c's the other day. After talking to HAM I will be sending them down to get rebuilt with 7mm valves and other goodies for the 2.4l.

Got some progress on both cars finally.
The Camper's rear brakes are done so the Ebrake works finally....ordered some exhaust parts and gauges online so I can start to convert it to the 72-74 HE's and dump the crappy ones on it now. Oil temp and pressure VDO gauges will help tell me how she's running. A rear bumper and a new seat are on the way!

Got ahold on Jake Raby and ordered a new modified cam, lifters, and 26mm oil pump. New rings are coming too so I can button the motor. Len will add new HD valve springs and clean up the heads. Wow, the 2056 should rev to 6000 strong now even with Djet.

Progress on the 2.4L will wait until after tax season...but Jake will provide a lite crank, type 1 rods and new pistons so I can rev the 2.4l to 7000k.
I am working with Len to make some heads to go on this motor that will last and provide some healthy hp in hte 160hp range.

Got some time this afternoon to trace down the wipers which quit working. Got one speed to work finally! While under the dash I repaired the rear window defogger and the radio!! WooHOO! Tunes! Pulled the steering wheel and fixed the horn and cleaned the turn signal switch too.

Atleast its getting pretty driveable and the oil leaks being fixed really helps.

This week I did talk to Jake about a new crank and rods for which I will have to get new pistons to fit the 22mm pins. Way lighter so the engine should rev like no tomorrow! yippie but this budget is going sideways in a hurry..On the bright side 165hp sounds doable witha 7000 redline, hmmm maybe this will be fun!

Worked on the Westy all day on Sat to fix the oil leaks. What a mess but I did find that the oil filter was barely on so that was leaking big time also. Installed new O rings with telfon was worked nicely. No leaks from the pushrod tubes. Maybe a small leak from a cylinder to block thou...cant fix that now. Installed a bunch of tin screws to keep the rattles away and tightened the exhaust flange nuts which were falling off. Need to order all new exhaust gaskets as they are leaking but it sounds soo much better. Runs stronger too after adjusting the valves which were way too loose!

Installed a Otima battery and a new ground cable so the engine spins up much faster!

Now to fix the wipers.... <_<

Got the 2056 motor all broke down and I am pissed!!! here are some shots of the motor and you can see the local asshole engine builder left out something. No effin wonder I was having problems with oil sloshing on hard cornering!
I also like how he balanced the rods by grinding the bottoms!!WFT! I will completely rebuilt the motor myself now, looking at a new CW crank with type 1 journals so I can get different hipo rods.
