BTW, nascar sway bar is awaiting the modification to the arm, and then adjustable drop links.

944 turbo calipers sitting on my desk... Going on the front of the car... The A calipers on the front will be on the back of the car... I'll put a 5th caliper for a parking brake if I feel I need it. Also will be going with a complete willwood or such pedal assembly with twin brake master cylanders... Should push out some serious stopping power.

Oh yes, hydraulic clutch is in the plans for next year, as well as cable shifter (both for the 915 trani with lsd that was pretty much donated by Mike P.

350 will be going bye bye next year, replacement will be a nice little 302... Im hoping for 8k rpms... to be seen at the track.

A semi roll cage (roll bar, no bars over 5 in from longs. to allow entrance and exit of the vehicle smoothly. Front and rear suspension points will be picked up. Hoping for under 50 lbs of tubing to be used. might not be realistic.

sall for now.

Heres some pics.....

ya.. theres a lot.

Car needs to be lowered some more. probably an inch in the back. Rear tires will gain roughly another inch wide. Front bumper will be 944 turbo based. Rear bumper will be 916, with a couple mods. Exhaust is changing. (long tube headers added, ricer mufflers added, and cutouts added)

17x8.5 up front (255 40 17)
18x10 on back (soon to be 285 35 18)

some custom stuff gone on..
Roller bearings aka mueller needle bearings.. the suspension works amazingly!!! Driver feels everything... thats probably because of the 275lb springs in the back..

On to the pics!!

Well, my car in general.

Lets start with the car purchase... When I was 15, or wednesday june 2002, I went over to turlock (30 mins from here) and bought not one, not two, but three 914's.. One drivable, the other two where parts cars. 950 bucks.
Spent some time to get everything cleaned up (10 hours... lol) and really had fun just tooling with it. The brakes where bad, the clutch was non existant, bla bla bla...

So about the first thing I did was the clutch, The clutch tube was loose, so I used J bolts to tighten it down. Then I rebuilt the pedal assembly, and all the brakes. drove ok for a little, but I was running little carbs, So I went with fuel injecion for a while.

I got tired of the 4 lug, and wanted more, So I got basically a 5 lug conversion for about 400 bucks for the front and the rear. Then I got some fuchs to put on and put some Kumho 711's with 225's all around on 16's. Got lots of handling now! But no power.. Considered every option imaginable... from rebuilding my 2.0 (felt weak, had problems) to a subaru 1.8 turbo, to a buick 3.6 v6. Then all the way to somehow talking about a v8, I always wanted to do a v8, but I thought it was out of my league, till people said how cheap it COULD be done... SO what did I do?

I built a cheap v8 conversion using all good parts!!

Renegade hybrid adapter plate and other adapters,
KEP clutch, PP and flywheel.
and my own creation of cooling with a Griffin aluminum radiator!

So far (until today...) It has been under 190 the whole time!

350 sbc v8,

Recently I have put on headers with Magnaflow mufflers (I links to sound files in my sig.)

So its off to find more hp and break more things with me!

Andrew

Great, so now I try to tune the stupid thing and I think the LM1 unit needs to be calibrated... now I need to search for that.. dang...

Oh and to top it all off, I burned a wire, Heck I even put some holders and junk to make sure that it would stay away from the header!! but it broke free from the holders (no clue how...) and bam, no more wire!!! Grrrr, they where new too...

Installed the new spark plug wires yesterday, and my new cv's..

Drove it today, Really had some nice power, Constant steady band, all the way till redline. Drove it for like 10 mins, then noticed some rough idling, Looked down at my temp guage and it read 200 and climed to 210 waiting for a stop light, Drove home imediately and noticed that my vacume advance broke off, fixed it, idle back to normal.

Then I decided i'd check the air fuel ratio with our LM1 unit, WOZERS, at idle when fully warm was 17 or 18, tad warm and it was close to 22!!!! chair.gif

suposed to be 14.5 for maximum eficiency...

So I drove it and did a 3rd gear pull from 1.5k rpm to 5.5k rpm (got to be like 10 seconds MAX.. lol ) and checked air fuel ratio, I think it was hovering around 13 or so, and when on throttle the air fuel ratio would drop drastically, which is good, it would go to 13 on just partial throttle. So, I think I just need to adjust the idle screw.. But if It just doesnt go good enough, im going to get rid of the Q jet, put on the edelbrock intake, and put on the holley carb..

Gona do it before the wcc anyways!!
