Picture of my plugs from 4 & 3 respectively. I'm getting spark to the plug and when I switched 3 & 4's plugs still no difference with the plug wire pulled on 3, but 4 caused the idle to stumble. What are the chances 3's wire is not letting enough voltage through (slim I guess)? At least we know both plugs are good but I was hoping that was the problem. My next step is to change the wires, since we know it is getting fuel and from the looks of the plug it was getting spark at one time at least. So if that doesn't do it (and I don't think I'm that lucky), then time to check my valve adjustment? Attached thumbnail(s)
Not much of an update but at least I have some pictures of my new (to me) exhaust setup from Aaron. The engine build is moving along, I spoke with Mark over the weekend and the big delay is that the heads are still with the machinist. For now, we are looking at a June delivery date but that depends on when the heads come back. I got to use the media blasting cabinet over at Ron’s a couple of weeks ago and boy-howdy does that do a good job, much better than my power washer in the driveway (big mess). If you’re reading this, thanks again Ron! Attached thumbnail(s)
Well I haven’t done anything to the car for a few months now as life keeps getting in the way (that & I hate prepping in the engine bay).
But I did manage to work a few things out and placed an order with Mark De Bernardi last weekend to build me one of Jake Raby’s 2056 engines! Mark ordered the kit last Monday and believes he’ll have it ready to come down in May. In preperation of the new engine, I bought Aaron’s ( ) Triad exhaust and 2L heat exchangers (I’ll post some pictures once I pick them up). I’m also trying to buy some of Andy’s 2L stuff he has for sale (Heads, Tin, etc..). That’s about it for now, I just wanted to put a stake in the ground for the new engine & update from there.
Finally finished the priming & painting of the front trunk . While I couldn't get the perfect paint match for the trunk, I think it will be okay (who's gonna look there anyways? ). With the flash from my camera, the difference is huge, but in the normal light it doesn't look soo bad.
Worked some more on the engine bay as well Today . God I hate working in there , but I gotta get it ready to Por15 it no matter what. Got to use my new twisted wire cup brush. That thing was spitting out broke wires like you wouldn't believe & let me tell you, those things hurt. Attached thumbnail(s)
When I got home Today, I thought it must have been fricken Christmas. There were two packages waiting for me and both of them were 914 parts!
The first package was the CV gasket & rubber kit I bought off eBay. The second package was Mark Bland (aka Engman ) and it had the third brake light I had bought from him. Now I knew from the begging I should have ordered it in Black or primer (which I think he is out of) but on the small chance his Metallic Blue matched mine (couldn’t really tell from his photos) I thought it was worth the risk. Well as you can tell, I’m going to have to paint it but boy is it going to look nice. Attached thumbnail(s)
