rainy days mean time to kill. and since today was my last day of freedom for awhile i thought i'd take care of some of the rusty bits in my front trunk. Out with the dremel and drill and off to work. Passenger side corner near the seam has always made me nervous, and after my little drive in the rain the other day i figured it was time to fix it. I really didn't want to disturb the paint job outside the channel, but there's a nick there already anyway so someday it will all get touched up and finished right. A couple other tiny bits around the channel that needed some love. The dremel is awesome for this with a small deburrring bit on it. Then a tiny wire wheel to finish it. No marks on the paint!

Took the grinder to the area under the spare tire as well. a few nasty spots ( by california standards ).

Pulled the rocker assemblies off on Saturday to inspect things and reassembled it with the hopes of ridding a lound tapping that has been around for awhile.

changed the swivel feet out for new solid adjusting screws as a test, and put it back together.

10 pounds on the rocker assembly nuts

valves to .006


started it up and it ran significantly quieter until i drove it around for a day or two.
then Tap Tap Tap Tap Tap again.

I keep looking out my back window expectiing to see a large black bird pecking at the engine lid.

something is moving around but i have no idea what, and i need to figure it out before the new exhuast gets put on in case i have to end up pulling the heads.

Found some new lenses at a Benz shop.
Stole them for $100 and put em on.

Its amazong what new lenses can do to freshen things up a bit.

God i hate quicken.
I havent even taken the frog apart yet and my year to date total for parts and sundries has already exceeded the cost of the car. Yay me!
