04-05-2006 On this day, my son Joseph John was born. Thus, I didn't get any work done on the car.

I painted the lower firewall areas in the engine compartment and the areas where the 4-cyl engine mounts were. I also painted the rear portion of the floor. I used POR paint and will topcoat. I started to strip the front portions of the floor (I want to fix any rust in the floors now instead of later...) Attached thumbnail(s) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Not much done since I was at the years first DE at Heartland Park with the BMW Club.

I started cleaning up the passenger side rear floor area to make sure that the floor is sound under the tar.... I also started planning the routing of my oil lines to the front. I'm going to go through the heater tubes and into the front trunk through the boxes on each side of the car (see green water hose). I have garden hoses pulled in where my oil lines will be run. The passenger side was not as rusty as the driver side was. Attached thumbnail(s) ![]() ![]() ![]()

I installed my engine mount today and then started looking at my driver side floorboard which was showing some rust under the tar. I removed the tar and started cleaning it up. TheMustForRust works really great at eating rust. I will have to cut out and patch some thin spots, but I will keep the floor. Well at least I know what I have now. I knew it was not great as I had patched some spots 13 years ago when I repainted it. I should have done this back then. Live and learn. I'll do the passenger side next. I am not sure I want to do the forward portion of the floors or not. I am leaning toward not, but I may change my mind as this project progresses. Once I get the passenger rear floor done, and finish patching the driver side, I can final-fit the MOTRONIC, paint those areas and finally mount the motronic and reinstall the backpad and seats.
