Starting to assess the initial fit and clearances. The EGR on the back of the head protrudes into the rear firewall, but both will be removed as things progress.
The throttlebody is too close to the firewall, so the whole intake will be replaced with an Audi intake to change the direction and location.

Here's how my 76' 914 conversion to a VW 1.8T GT morphed..
(Adaptation Phase)
Out with the fine running 2.0, in with a low milage 1.8 VW 20th aniversary turbo engine. My goal is to recreate the 914-6 GT look, but with modern economical drive train. My primary time behind the wheel will be auto-xing, so areas of weight reduction, and chassis stiffening will be of interest. I have sourced the required adapter plate, flywheel, and clutch package from Kennedy Engineering. This will allow me to use the current side shift 901 transmission.
