A car I bought new in 1973. I let it sit for about 15 years while I raised 4 children, and didn't know the rust issues that were happening inside. Now I am restoring it, mostly because of sentimental value, because I still love the car. Photos show the car being disassembled. Then work on the Hell Hole. The long was mostly surface rust. had one hole near the bottom. I cut it out and replaced a section on the top of the lower section. I then reinforced the entire long with a steel piece cut to fit. This is my first welding, so it is not as pretty as I would have liked, but I did get good penetration. I metal prepped all areas and primed with zinc before welding over. I still have to cut out the section at the back of the battery tray and replace it. Also, see the firewall is very rusted, as water collected behind the insulation panel. This will be replaced as soon as floorboards are done.
