I installed the "PORSCHE" vinyl graphics this weekend. Looks pretty good! I needed some visual satisfaction.
Rear of car is still on jack stands but hopefully be back on the ground soon.

Well, after my BREIF victory lap around the lake a bad vibration started in the rear of the car. It appears to be in the passenger side CV axel. I ordered MORE parts from AA. I ordered two KYB shocks , an entire cv axel unit and a axel bearing. I took the shocks and springs out or the car and had the new shocks installed into the spring assemblies. I will install the shocks and put it all back togather this weekend hopefully.

I finally aquired all the items ti install the gas tank. I bought all the gaskets for the sending unit and evaporator tank with the correct brass bolts and washers from AA. I had a hard time finding a gas cap but got it and put the new gasket in it as well. I capped of one of the holes in the bottom of the tank since my car is carburated.

I still need to order a few more parts and it should be road worthy soon! Paint turned outpretty good if I say so myself! One coat of sealer yellow, three coats of base and three coats of clear.

I am taking off two days this week plus we are closed on Good Friday. I hope to get the body painted in its original one year only color Berber Yellow! I have been prepping the body now for a few weeks on weekend and some nights. Everything is taped and prepped off. All nicks and dings have been filled and sanded and sanded and sanded.... I have enough paint supplies for one coat of bright yellow sealer, three coats of base and two coats of clear. I will attach pics of my work after the weekend. Wish me luck! I am a beginner and this will be shot in my make shift paint booth...the garage.

Okay...I finally found out what was REALLY going on. Why it wouldnt re start. The ignition did need replaced but not the main reason.
The prevoius owner had installed a Chevy one wire alt. I was getting a full 12V to the points at all times and it had melted the insulator on the points cam/rod/bar" thingy"?". I was told that it is supposed to get only 9.3V with the key in the run position and 12V only when you engage the starter. Notice in the picture the orange stuff melted. Gap and everything was set correctly, it just had leaned over enough to ground out without the insulation on that little bar. Solution: I could have intsalled a new set of points and a "univerasal ballest resistor" on the wire going to the dist to reduce the voltage to the correct amount (9.3). Instaed I went ahead and upgraded to a 12V Pertronix electronic ignition that will handle the full 12V's all the time. Runs better than ever now!
Whew...one step forward and four backwards. On to the next learning issue headbang.gif beer3.gif

Ok....I pulled it into the garage and it was running fine and shut it off with the key. Would not re-start. Traced it down to no spark in the distributor. I threw parts at it such as condesor and coil. Didn't fix it. It ended up being the ignition switch cracked. I ordered the switch from George at AA and also ordered a replacemnt bearing for the steering column to get rid of the wobble in the steering wheel. Got it all put back together and now it starts but runs horrible. Need to chase down what I did wrong in the distributor. Always something!

Got my new used wheels in this weekend. Mounted directional 195/65/15 tires on them. Came with black center caps and I glued on the Porshe emblems . Cant wait to get them on the car and drive it to see the difference over stock. I also ordered chrome stud bolts that are the correct type for the aluminum wheels.
