Jimmy, that was my intention for the newbies - buy a car like this and drive the snot out of it vs buying a $1500-2000 car that "needs a little fixing up" that turns into a $8000 car overnight
I bought it for the value - the value it has for me as a super solid that I can turn into a track car quickly And the value of the parts I knew I could sell (motor, carbs, both gone, Center Console, suspension & brakes, wheels, etc) |

Today, I buttoned the dash back together and put the Interior TargaBar trim in. Someone had installed the rear Targa latches on the wrong sides - it took me a few minutes to figure out why things were not fitting

I also made a Padded Headliner for the Targa Top. If you noticed the Perlon Backpad I put in, it is Jet Black. My source of Perlon ( a custom crate maker for Rock Bands) switched from the tradition 3 tone grey to Black so that's what I'm using. So I glued 1/8" Foam to the inside of the top and then a piece of the Black Perlon. I think it looks very good in this car.

That really looks good!
Anything to help keep it quiet inside the 914. Sigh, I need to do another steel roof car. My current 914 is actually really tight and has very little cowel shake, but you can still hear the top squeak if you're on the right road. Annoying. |

Dan, next time the Steel-Roof becomes available, we should go in halves on it. That way we'll never get rid of it. You can have it in the summer & I'll take it in the Winter (my summer)

Wow, you have been busy. I'm very glad you are happy with the car. Too bad that engine got pulled so quickly, (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) you know how hard it is to come by a leak free Type IV (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy11.gif) I figured it was in its final resting place for a decade or so. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) . But it was for a very worthy cause (IMG:style_emoticons/default/drooley.gif) That 6 is gonna be sweet. I am so glad you are gonna drive it, and give her some more pep instead of letting her sit. It was a bitter sweet seeing her get trucked away, literally I had blood sweat and tears into that car(sorry for the extra DNA samples) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) . I'm sure you could tell since I expressed my concerns over the securing of the car on the trailer by the driver. I enjoyed the journey I took with this car. And I can see your renewed enthusiasm for the car, and that makes me confident and happy that it went to a good home.

Looks cool !! I remember those old Beck 914's and actually talked with Chuck about those many years ago and was planning on going to purchase a kit and than plans changed. I always liked that look. Wish those kits were still in production...

Got my Beck BodyKit back (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) - Thanks grasshopper
I had to take the sawzall (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sawzall-smiley.gif) to it to fit in my Honda Civic Hatchback that was already filled up from my trip to Petit LeMans. But it's OK as I'm not going to use the bumper part, just the flares. But I might cut the front lower lip off and try to use it The Front |

The earlier picture of Randy's racecar is not an actual Beck kit, but something he made. Chuck is a great guy - besides the 914 kit, he is most famous for his Beck 550 and the Beck 904 kits. What most people don't know is he made the Ford Shogun - mid-engine SHO motor in a Fiesta. Very few built, but one is in Jay Leno's collection and is one of Jay's favorite cars Rear of my kit |
