I met Brody a few years ago when he was just getting into 914s. We met when he called about a 914 I was selling. He told me that he wanted to do a Suby conversion, so I recommended a roller a friend had...it's the yellow one you see today. It definately has come a loooong way.
I told him back then about World, but he is more of a hands on guy and does not really have time for the net. Here is a pic of the Ghia he built that was featured in Hot VWs a few years back. Attached image(s) ![]() |

Here is how it looked when he started..I've also seen this car in person and have ridden in it, tuned by Outfront and moves like stink...the dude is a perfectionist and always on the go.

I need to get over there and see what he's been up to. I've been away from 914s for a few years now autocrossing a 944 and 951, but the more I think about it the more I want a 914 again with Brody bits. |

I enjoy observing the ways other fabricators do a conversion. Some are a interesting way to do a thing and others I don't myself like. But nonthehless they get the job done while I am just reading. Some of these approaches will take years to prove whether they are lasting and above average are not, and most people will have moved on to other projects, especially if they hired the work out as they have less emotion invested in the project.
I like to copy oem radiator mounts for durability. The holes in the inner fenders will probably out last the driver if a confortable street suspension is used. The panels could be bolted to a double layer perimter. To me the cradle is probably adequate but looks too small in diameter, needs gussets and hopefully it's thickwall. I like it though and as everyone knows talk is much easier than doing and getting the job finished. Keep the pictures coming and welcome to the World. Oh yeah, I probably still have that copy of hot vws mag. |
