My dust boots arrived, brighter than the image. To get something to fit I
Had to get motorcycle fork boots. They’ll grow (glow) on me I hope. Changing these big green tops to the elephant racing seals left a big gap at the bottom of the steel dust covers. Plus I save one pound eleven ounces. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

This falls into the category of "endless stuff to do while the engine is away for repair". Put JB Weld (what a wonder drug), on all the cracks in my engine and alternator shrouds. Next I'll do some sanding, apply fiberglass patches, sand some more, and touch it up with paint. Should be good as new, which in this case would be $800 or there abouts. Which is better spent on the engine build times XXXX. John

What’s going on here? The voices in my head told me it was time to widen the flares. I was going to do the 9"-11" glass flares but a swell fella here gave me a deal I could not refuse. Glad he did, it gave me this opportunity to build what I saw in my head. Not what someone else saw. Adding two inches to front and rear flares. This flare is teaching me how to do the rest. So it is taking some time. |

Adding the extra width to flares sure looks like a lot of work. Looks good after it's all done though.
How the heck do you fill the dozens of "slits"? Not too wide to weld, but dang, that'll take some time. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/welder.gif) |

The slits, weld doesn’t stick to copper, I have a piece of sheet copper bent to match the sheet metals shape. Place it behind and fill. Bent up a little tab at the end for a pair of vice grips. |

12 Degrees F today and it fire right up... idled up and came down to a steady purr after about 5 minutes. Thermometer in the garage was about 28 degrees F. When the Djet is tuned and working well... it's all easy street.
I didn't drive around... as I'm waiting for my new plate sticker. I let it run for about 25 minutes... until the oil temps were registering 125 or so. I have a long list of little projects... including a trans rebuild for this winter. Last year at this time the engine was on a stand for a complete rebuild. Everything came together and now its a solid fun car. Drove it nearly 2900 miles this summer. Can't wait for spring. Attached image(s)

Added 100# rear springs to replace saggy stockers.
Number on the masking tape was with old springs, new height indicated by scale. ![]() |

Did some CB prototyping today. I won't be using the big hole down low for an oil filter, so I'm going to use it for cooling by picking up some fresh air from outside. It will only work when moving.
