Neutralized with a vinegar spray bottle. Smelled like a Greek salad for a couple days.

$500.00

Amazing results:

We know you shouldn't weld. We're probably fairly certain you shouldn't be doctoring. We're more than certain you shouldn't be drunk posting.

I bet you could set up a 2nd business with this new blasting. Have them drive down or trailer, blast the car and drive home the same day. Hire someone at $20/hour and charge owner less than soda blasting.

Wonder how well it does on boats?

That's the idea (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) And it does vey well on boats, the company actually has video of it stripping a fiberglass boat, and aanother showing a pretty corroded steel boat trailer

Bull shit! Look at the nostrils and lack of ears. It is most definitely a cartoon gorilla face.

And Erc, I was sober. I dont need alcohol to release my inner creativity.....just enhance it from time to time (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

QUOTE(Dr Evil @ May 28 2012, 10:14 AM) *

Soda is the only way to go. Better than nuts and way better than sand. Low heat, no mess.

I have heard quote for a 914 in soda in this area for $2k.

Soda is total b.s. First off it won't do jack to rust or bondo, second, once the car is blasetd it needs to be washed and preferably sanded otherwise the primer will not stick to the car. This was first apparent in the airline industry when planes were being soda blasted and repainted and the paint started peeling off within a couple months.

Most primers ( definitely the one I use ) have an acid in them to etch into the base metal, soda does not etch into the metal mechanically, and is a base substance ergo the two do not mix. I do not and will not use soda, I have personally seen it fail twice and both times was done by a business that speicialized in it. The process I am looking at is the new solution to soda. As I said, it generates zero heat, uses glass as the media, and leaves the surface ready for immediate priming. This process also has no dust, leaves no residue, and can be done within 10 feet of another car and will not harm or sully it in any way. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Pending price this is THE best setup I have found

So the system is not soda. It uses glass and leaves no residue? The glass must go somewhere. The only other system I can think of uses dry ice and that I don't think works on rust. What is this system?

soda about $1200

sand I have heard can be pretty cheap $500-750

Soda was our best alternative to date. yes a good acid wash was needed. The up side the soda did lend a hand in holding off flash rust as an issue. My car sat naked in the basement for a good time to no ill effect except were we handled it.

attempting to wrestle this back on track for Scotty... I saw this system this past weekend, was either an infomercial or another show on the speed channel. Uses glass beads and a waterbased solution. IIRC the 'water' includes anti rust chemicals to help prep the metal. Or something like that.

I am kind of interested here as my car is at Scotty's and may be one of the first subjects since my car is going to be media blasted....just don't know what with now.

BTW, all of the cars I have heard of getting media blasted, go from $750 to $1,200 complete and some included primer afterwards. THat included muscle cars and P-cars.

Interesting (IMG:style_emoticons/default/popcorn[1].gif)

I saw a system that uses sponges. It has the abrasive imbedded. The sponges absorbs the dust after impact.
