With the car running and the outside looking done, it was time to turn attention to the inside. I made an 8" subwoofer enclosure out of the passenger foot rest foam chunk. I wanted something that would not intrude on passenger space and this seemed like a logical location. The end result is barely seen if you don't look for it, in fact you can't even see it when in the drivers seat.
First I added urethane foam to the area that I wanted to house the driver and after it set I shaped it to fit the 8" driver and achieve the look I wanted. Once it looked like what I wanted, I glassed it up and then hogged out all the foam to leave a fiberglass enclosure that perfectly replaces the original foam piece. Here's the roughed foam plug: ![]() Here's the enclosure after gassing and removing the foam. Before glassing I carved a 1/2" recessed area in the front section to create a flange to flush mount a piece of 1/2" MDF for an acess panel. ![]() |
