i know its late but just saw this post and thought i'd throw an offer out to the 914 community as it's been very helpful to my son and i with his 73.

we have a good 72 tail shifter sitting aside, if any one has a good tranny in their teener but wants an immediate builder they are welcome to use mine and then "swap" me back when they install the rebuilt (within a reasonable time)

i live in the modesto area about 1.5 hr's out of the east bay area

Rob Ways is now confirmed. I am ordering your black cloak as I type this (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy11.gif)

So we have 4 confirmed, one in the mail, and I havent heard back from LarryR via here or PM (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) I wonder if he is coming? I have enough hardware for 4-5 trannies....I guess I will order more to be on the safe side.

Dont forget to get seal kits!!!! I ordered the ones for those that asked for them and I have no extras (because Trevor needed one and took my spare (IMG:style_emoticons/default/poke.gif) )

QUOTE(Dr Evil @ Dec 27 2007, 01:36 PM) *

Getting closer (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I just shipped a box of parts and tools out. Ya gotta love those flat rate USPS boxes, the box was at least 30lbs. Be careful when you lift it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Mike I just got this box but its only 29lbs...LOL.

It has a dime size hole near the bottom. When I brought it in a nut fell out. Not sure what was in there or what is missing. Need me to open and count?

Let me know.

Damnit (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)

I knew they would goof it up....the PO guy was like, "dont worry." I have a bag of nuts and bolts in there that is likely leaking....definitely need to get another box to make sure everyone is covered. Maybe I will sell some to the looky-loos (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Ya, could you check that the special tools are still in there? That is my major concern.
- 30mm deep socket
- triple square hex bit
- Deep 14mm socket

A dime size hole only worries me about the bottom two. The 30mm is a big sucker. Feel free to open it, check out the contents, arrange them in various geometric patterns on your garage floor, etc. Let me know.

I put a quarter size hole in the box I sent... just for $hits and giggles. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

And... I play real guitar. I dance like Slits (when he's drunk) but, I play guitar.

Okay - here is what we got.

Let me know if something looks missing and I'll double check. It appears that only the bag of nuts and washers busted open.

Hey Doc,

I might be in. I picked up a side shifter core last weekend, and am trying to get the time to get it cleaned up, get the gear stack out to check to make sure it is decent, and get a seal kit ordered. I should have some time tomorrow before work to get some of it apart after cleaning, I will let you know tomorrow afternoon.

If I can't get far enough I will still be there as a look-e-loo for sure, but would really like the benefit of your expertise during the rebuild. we will see.

I will confer with Dr. Evil and post times on the first post. All the other details should be or will be on the first post.

Any other questions let me know.

My version of the shiftrod adjustment jig, used instead of the plastic plate, you can bolt on a side-shift console and see how your adjustments are working! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif)Attached Image
