The how to rebuild your air cooled vw shows orings on the rocker studs under the shaft mounts.

Mine had none when I took it apart, is it supposed to, and if so what purpose do they serve?

I assume they are rubber, not copper?

Whew, I feel much better then I don't have to tear all the rockers back off. (just 2 for the leaking pushrod seals.)
