this is the t-stat on a -6 engine.
when testing the t-stat, how obvious is it when the mechanism opens? i put my t-stat in oil and heated it to 200° F, according to a kitchen thermometer. i couldn't see any noticeable change in the t-stat mechanism. WUWD?!? (wattupwitdat) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) |

(page 46 of the June Excellence, it turns out ...) the little shuttle gizmo should flip to the other side when the paraffin melts. around 180F is what the article suggests. could be yours is bad - after all - that's why you tested it, right ? because you suspected a failure? they're pretty reliable... |

ah-haaaaaaaa ....... ok
i had it out to replace the O ring, and thought i'd test it. it seems to run hot, but it seems to be more rpm related. i've gone to larger main jets, but that didn't help much, if at all. i'm testing it again. thanks!! |
