I'm cleaning up the engine compartment while waiting for my new (rebuilt) relay board. Routing the wires etc. to where they are supposed to go, installed a grommet where one was missing, and then I am going to play pool in a little tournament we have going among co-workers, I am in first place! gonna take my backpad off if I have time and clean that area.

Still working on the brakes. New master cylinder bolted up yesterday - watta PITA. New soft and hardlines on the front just about done. If I get lucky I'll start on the rears this afternoon.

Only labor on the 914 today was taking the cover off it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
Took the car (and my better half) out for breakfast, then a nice 50-mile drive through the Yorktown battlefield and an out and back on the Colonial Pkwy. Oh--and I guess I'll have to put the cover back on it when it cools off . . . . have a good one! |

I am adjusting my rebuilt rear calipers & bleeding my brakes. I also need to put on my newly ceramic coated muffler. Put in some interior pieces. Put my rear wheels back on. Then I am (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) this sucker for the first time in 2+ years. I can't wait (IMG:style_emoticons/default/evilgrin.gif)

I'm going to help my oldest son on his house for awhile today but later I will be cleaning up the car, checking nuts and bolts and getting ready for the road trip to the RRC.

Just bolting seat belts in and going for a drive up hwy 12 before the motorhomes come home today. It is a beautiful 65 degree morning, blue sky, and open road. Next week is repair the last rust, then new ss fuel lines!

A couple weeks ago I took the -6 out for some excercise. Got 50 ft down the road and heard a GRZZOUNT and a tablesaw-like BZANG! The fan just chewed on something. What the... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) Did I drop a socket in there? A couple days later the olfactory kicks in. I've got an ex-rat. Took the engine out to get the critter out as well as fix a couple oil leaks. Hopefully re-install today. Word to wise - if you're running headers close off those heater ducts!

Put on my new Triad muffler....what a great sound.
Now I need to weld up some sheet metal so I can take it out on a the road to see what it sounds like at the upper RPM,s. This muffler sound fantastic at idle and in the lower range...I am hoping it does not whine like the bursch (cherry bomb) setup....btdt and took that one off after the first drive. What a nice sound this triad has, and while I cant recommend it just yet without a few drives at different RPM's, it sure sound promising. Nice low loping sound..deep a throaty....hope it does not ever find that harmonic balance...I hate mufflers that do that...it always seems to hum at highway speeds.. Now, gotta go find my welder...see if my boy ran it out of all consumables and tack the targa wing in place so I can drive a round a bit. Rich |

Started removing paint & surface rust on the 74 project car. Got the drivers side front fender down to bare metal (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smash.gif) . Looks good, but did find a small hole about the size of an eraser head down where the rocker cover would be. Nothing major (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif)

I'm finishing my fuel system today. I'm using Tangerine Racing SS lines in the tunnel, but need to bend up steel lines to connect them to the Suby in-tank fuel pump, and to bend up the lines in the engine bay.
I also hope to finalize the hydraulic clutch piping, and to bleed my braking system that I finished last night. Gonna be a scorcher today, though... |

I labored to strap my son's car seat into the 914, then drove it to a Labor Day auto show in Clifton, VA.
Despite some impressive company - lots of muscle cars and hot rods, a few exotics, and at least 2 other P-cars - my little well-worn Fourteen garnered lots of attention! |
