OK, now I feel like an even bigger asshole for pressuring Brad into telling me what the 'plan' would be for 2005. I have been a club 'member' for one year and 4 days (as long as I have owned a 914), and his explanation to Rick was the first I had seen that explains what the club really is. Some prior comments of 'Brad has a plan' and 'check with the finance committee' are not so.

It's still hard for me to accept that all these 'experts' donate this much free advice with no strings, but so be it. If we can take the heat off Brad and the other admins/experts and throw this damn party next year, maybe we can keep their wealth of 914 wisdom. If anyone else wants to take the reins, step up now. One way or the other, we should meet one more time now. GAF seem like a good excuse.

We should finalize the dates ASAP and post on the main board.

Meeting at GAF is probably a good idea but I think what we should have learned from the past month is that WCC04 was pretty much one or two persons making decisions and others helping out. There's no need for you to be bowing out. I think the most constructive meeting would be to start having people pick a job that they will focus on and get this rolling. Otherwise we'll be kicking around options for 6 months and nothing will get done.

Score!

Yep...thats true...a dozen or more helped out in various capacities...2-3 of us did most of it.

Trust your gut instinct and run with it. Show us the 914Party SoCal style... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

It seems the point "B" is trying to make on the main BBS is that although he started this BBS he doesn't want the run everything. He has bigger fish to fry. He gave us all a gift at great expense both personal and financial. He wants to move on to other things but doesn't want to see the BBS go the way of the digi site.

Brad started out with the idea of the WCC 04. He had other projects and obligations that took him away.

Things didn't happen for the 04 event until Jeff came aboard and did his thing. He outlined what he thought he could handle and delegated small assignments to other members. His additude was "this is what I purpose If you agree I'll run with it, if not I'll have to pass."

Howard, You are in Southern California. You have the skills to take charge and do this thing. 05 is in your hands. Just build and we'll come. It's that easy. Don't worry about pleasing everyone. Fuck um. Or as Alison would say tell them to have a fuck! This is a close nit group. After last year people will flock to the gathering.

Part of my reasoning for finding a leader: my lack of participation for WCC04. I could only juggle so much and finding the time to "lead" the effort was impossible. Too many changes in life too quickly at that time. I have good idea's. I have never been one to follow through. If you need an idea.. come to me. If you need something done.. find someone else. If you need motivational help.. see me. I have basically given and given to the point where I have no more to give. Looking back, there was only 1 year of my life without 914's in it (1999) and that year I made more money and had more fun than I have had in the last 5 with 914's back in it. I need to dump it again and get my life back on track.

This doesnt mean I wont share my thoughts/idea's on WCC05. I just cannot lead. I will meet with those who want to run the show for 05 at GAF and share what I have learned (good and bad) from all the other 914 events I have attended around the USA.

Howard,

I bet that everyone who has participated so far still wants you as the leader for WCC'05. You weren't the only one confused about how the "club" operates so don't be hard on yourself for pressuring Brad. I'm sure the force of the pressure you exerted was like a feather compared to the load of lead bricks that he carries due to this site.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) I am with him, we want you Howard or I wouldnt have volunteered you in the first place. Yeah, remember? I am the one who stepped up and nominated you in the first place. If you have some frustrations to work out, come on down and you can work on my car in my nice new clean garage where you can actually find any tool you are looking for. Dont give up on us Howard, I will come up to the GAF and meet with you and we can make this happen. We are counting on you Buddy.

We need other members to be strong during this upset. I'm very worried that this is going to spin out of control and the 914club is going to disappear. I know that the team that has already started on the WCC 05 can make a great event. It just takes a bit of getting used to the fact that it's all up to you.

You can doo eet!

Howard,
You're stressing too much. Have a beer and chill. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/drunk.gif) If you feel this planning is pressuring you too much, then feel free to back off a bit.

I'm sure that the rest of us will step up to help you out. Besides, if we are a team of people planning a 914 gathering event, we really dont need a team leader. If everyone volunteering can pitch in something, then it will make the work load and stress on one individual that much less. And possibly more may get accomplished.

On another note, i'm conserned about waiting a month and some change for another meeting. Will this pose a problem for booking a large event?

Anyway, I will try to bring my sample maps, twisty road options, and a sample of the CD im working on for the GAF meeting.

Have a Fuck! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/w00t.gif)

I'll agree with everyone else Howard, You take the lead for WCC2005. We dont need anyone else doing something that your already doing a great job at. Just take it easy, and dont stress out. Were all here to help.

You da man Howard, Any ideas on what we could do on Sunday? Would everyone be interested in a tech session at a garage that works on Porsches and sells parts? Or would that go beyond the vendor independent rule? Or maybe a coastal cruise down from LA through Orange county and down into say Laguna Beach? It would be tough to keep the cars all together through some of PCH because of the weekend traffic. It was just an idea.

Any chance of renting one of the Mini Grand Prix places for a 1/2 day?

Isn't there a cool race theme restaurant there (car on the roof)?
I forget the name. We had breakfast there as part of a 914 O.A. event.

What about Petersen's Auto Museum on one of the days?

Are we going to do a staged group photo again?
The trip to a special scenic location could be a fun jaunt.

Scott, John, that's why there are big holes in the agenda Thursday and Sunday. We don't even need to do it as one large group. Nearby is a Golf n Stuff with a go cart track, Jim Hall Kart school (verrry expensive), outlet mall, antique shopping, beaches. We could charter a yacht for a '3 hour cruise'.

Peterson/Coast run to Laguna both involve driving through LA. As we found out going to Canter's, this can be a bitch any day of the week, not good for 914's and other living things.

Staged photo/video drive by. Twisty tour will take us to a great spot near the Rock Store for pass and review video. Then group photo at Paramount Ranch. Ranch was used in a ton of movies as a race track and Charlie Manson has vacated.

The roads near the Rock Store are very busy on the weekends. I know you know that, but I used to be one of the bikers out there (motor powered). How concerned should we be?

Sean, right on.
Kanan, Las Virgenes (Malibu Cyn) and Mulholland between them is a bit touristy on the weekends and very well patroled. No playing in this area, just curvy Woodward Ave to strut your stuff. Had a show off rice rocket slide both tires under Suzi last weekend. No harm to rider or Suzi, but a little scuffed fairing paint on his Kamakazi. Worse, the bicycle clubs use it, too, and think they own the road.
BTW, Paramount ranch is just east of there off Cornell. It's the Lazy L (cowboy talk) road.
