After hearing people go on and on about 914.043.0001 being the first production 914/6 I decided to contact Marc at Porsche who has access to the Kardexs

One of the vendors at the Partsheaven swap evidently used to own it, and mentioned that it was covered in a Panorama issue many years ago... --DD here's the artice and a little additional text, that I saved in my files "I got one of the 1st 914/6s in the USA. 9140430017. This was the car, that the Panorama featured in their 1st road test. The car was Yellow, and soon after the road test, the car was painted Black, and a 2.4 Motor W/airport gears was installed." #4 was a prototype. #11 is (apparently) the first production 914-6. Two very different things.
