I missed out on scoring a 2.0 flat six with carbs and trans (out of a 67 911 targa) that a guy was selling for $1,500.00 but got some wheels as a consolation prize. The seller owned a body shop and said that the car was just too rusty to save. I'm trying not to think about what his idea of too rusty might have been.
Anyway, when I got to the shop the engine was sitting there and as I approached with interest the guy that had beaten me there quickly closed the deal. He seemed like a man of means and knowledge so the engine probably ended up in good hands. I didn't leave empty handed though. ![]() After educating myself a little, I believe I have 3 real Fuchs 6x15 Flats and 1 Questionable "Deep Six" ![]() Note that it does have the "heart" but its hard to see in this picture ![]() Any thoughts on Real or Reproduction here? I'm hoping to get another Flat 6x15 and have a set that I can use on my car at some point later on down the road. |

Not all deep sixes have hearts.
Hard to say and I'm not the uber educated wheel guy. The paint line looks correct, hard to imagine a fakes going to that extent. You'll want to wash it up and look for a triangle with a P in it and a little Fox (Fuchs) head stamped in it. They usually have a 6J x 15 there as well and, if you can clean it up, there may be in ink stamp in the anodized aluminum with remnants of a part number. |

I just noticed it was a larger image. I clicked on it and got a really good close up of the back of the paddles. I'd vote Fakes right now...

I saw that ad 10mins after it was posted on the Craigslist. Started to call but figured I had too many projects already.

Very interested in this. How do you tell real Fuchs from fakes that look just like them? Looking at a car (online) that has Fuchs. What should I ask to see from the owner or where to look to have him take a picture of to determine if they are real or not?

Where will this triangle be located? And what is the "heart" you refer to? I don't see either on these. Am I not seeing it or looking in the wrong place?

![]() I can't make out any markings on the inside of the paddles. Its still kind of dirty but I'm pretty sure there is nothing there. Look at 12 O'Clock (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon12.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wub.gif) |

He's seen many more of these wheels than I have. The paint line looked weird to me where it meets the center but, again, there's a lot of work put into it if it were a fake. So... Looks like this is your lucky day. |

I've seen fake Fuchs but not fake Fuchs with hearts. Not to say they might not exist but certainly not common. Hearts go for GOOD money
