August 10th -a mere 3 weeks away is the date for this year's annual Mid-West Porsche 914 Meet and swap meet. Go to the link for details about location, times, directions, places to stay, etc. This year's event is going to be in a park setting. Here's a link to Barber Dave's (event host) post on the other BBS here. Last year's event was, I'm sure, the largest gathering of 914's ever in the mid-west, and this years event promises to be bigger and better.
Looking forward to seeing you all there,
Tom "Curvie" Mulcrone

Expect between 10-20 SMOG members. We will be meeting up in the Cabela's parking lot in Dundee, MI at 11:00 am just like last year, so we can arrive as a group. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_flagge6.gif)

Not that anyone knows me (yet) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ninja.gif) But I will be there also. No car (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif). Look for the short, fat, bald guy from Indiana in 96 Black F150 & a 914 club sticker on back (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif)

I just got a second email from the property supervisor asking for volenteers to help out in Tennessee. I ignored the first one. The pressure is on now. One of several things could happen. I could be traveling that weekend and take a detour, or I could be sent earlier or later. Maybe I can stop by. I'll know more tomorrow. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

Any Chicago area teeners going? I'm thinking about making the trip but I'd be more comfortable in a caravan in case an unfortunate breakdown occurs. Never had it happen yet, but you never can tell!

HAHA Chris,
When I first read your post I thought you meant a Dodge caravan. Now I get it, you mean like a convoy. That would be safest. but I think you should come either way (caravan or solo, not Dodge caravan) change the oil, adjust the valves, grab some spares and tools and hit the road. You'll make it! LOL! Yeah I guess it does read that way Tom. I am going to try to go but I hope to get at least a 2-man convoy going. If anyone is interested let me know. Hope to see y'all there!

Maybe I'm overly optimistic about the abilities of these cars to go on long trips, esp. after driving my current car home from California to Michigan back in Nov. but with my first 914 I was afraid to drive it much farther than I was willing to push it home. I now regret that. I wish I'd have had the confidence in that car when I owned it to take it on long drives. I'm sure it would have made it. Those years with that car were sort of wasted on little trips to the market, etc. We'll see you in a week and a half, Chris!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wavey.gif)

Missed last year's event due to being away on vacation in FL. Going to miss this year's event due to being on vacation in FL. Maybe the third time is the charm. I hope to make it next year. By then I may even have a 914 that I would trust driving that far.

Take plenty of pics! and please share them with us.

Hey Doug get the car ready, we're coming your way this fall to drive the great roads down there and get some pretty shots. Maybe PNambic will have his car ready by then.

Alright dammit I'm going. Thanks for the extra push in the right direction. I'm sure I'll make it just fine.
