Injector cleaning

Looking for injector cleaning business suggestions.
I have 4 2.0 injectors that I would like to send out for testing.

Back story:
I was battling a surging issue and sent four of my spare injectors out for cleaning and testing. I checked each with a 9V battery before sending and they all clicked.

I first looked at Witchhunters, which I had used before, but they went out of business. On their website they recommended Advanced Injector in KS. So I packed them carefully in bubble wrap and shipped them off. When I got them back they were loose in a flat rate box with some papers towels shoved into the box. Not individually wrapped just rattling around in the box.

I installed them and the car would not run at all. Since I was having other issues I checked everything else before pulling those injectors and tested them with a can under them. 3 did not flow at all. And after removing them I found they would no longer click.

So I put my old injectors back in, and the engine ran.
I don’t know if they will work now since they don’t click. I thought about tapping them with a plastic hammer. And trying the 9V battery thing again.

But in the meantime, I would like a couple suggestions on places other than Advanced Injectors in Kansas, whom I do not recommend.

Bill is good guy & very professional (I dont really need the Tootsie rolls (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy11.gif) )
I used Witch hunter when they operated down the street from me but when he moved only a town over (15 mins) he then required ONLY mail service (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)

He is local to me and a very good guy, reputable, doesn't charge anything if they can't be serviced. He has done a bunch for me.

Another vote for Mr. Injector. Never had an issue after sending him many rounds of injectors.

I used Fuel Injection Corporation in Tracy, CA
Delivered injectors individually boxed, new hoses, exteriors refinished. Car runs great!

Also used this company for two fuel pump overhauls, more than satisfactory service.

I've used Mr. Injector three times now. Excellent customer service, well packed on return, overall a good experience. My only concern with my 914 and then my Super Beetle injectors was that he sends them back with straight hoses on them and springs to put inside so that the hoses don't kink when you bend them. At least with the SB that didn't work because of space constraints. If I send him any more injectors that require a curved hose I'll either tell him not to install hoses on the injectors, or perhaps send him the pre-formed hoses to install. I just got my Volvo injectors back from him and he did a great job for a reasonable price with a fairly quick turnaround.

Anybody else have experience with a service that does a good job and actually puts the correct hoses on them when they refurbish them? Not sure if that is an option from any of the refurbishing services.

How frequent should injectors be serviced; before having a problem ?
And, who sells the curved hoses ?

I service them when they have an unknown history. Just part of my list of things to do when getting a classic car. I will honestly say I haven't noticed that it has made any difference, other than my peace of mind. At a minimum new hoses and new o-rings if you don't know when these were last replaced.

It’s been a while on 914 injectors I ask for him to leave off the hoses and I buy curved ones from tangerine racing.
