the nipple that the filter attaches to
what size and thread is that?

id like to get a die and run it over the nipple and correct those threads

i have to go to school tomorrow morning though and my dad (flatvw) is gonna try to find a die for that
so i kinda need to know the size and thread tonight if at all possible

thanks for all the help so far

See other thread...it's aluminum....have you ever successfully "restored" threads in aluminum (without a timesert or helicoil)?

Just a question............

An "outside" helicoil, and then we could get custom made oil filters! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/idea.gif)

or just nix the stock oil filter setup, tap for some nipples at the same location, run some rubber lines or whatever you want to a bug oil filter setup....seen it done, looks good.

If you dimple the oil cooler next to the bolt head you can get a 1/4 drive 13mm socket over the bolt for the oil filter adapter.

Then remove it and replace it.

BTDT.... But no one will believe that I can do it......

pull some of the surrounding tin and front cover (20 min)
pull engine bar (10 min)

SWAP out OIL FILTER console ( 20 min)

instalation is the opposite of removal.
