A 1½" ABS plumbing 90° zip tied to the front suspension and aimed at the brakes.

I'll try it this weekend on the track.

It won't hurt, remember that.

I am the King of hack...remember aaron...us using broomhandles and my old AC box to balance my transmission...hehe...but yeah, I am pretty hack sometimes, and even that has my danger oh shit-o-meter going off...do some more engineering.....at least a big metal hoseclamps...so that it doesnt fall off and destroy the front valance of an RS replica or something behind you...

Having the air come from a high pressure zone like the spoiler will force as much air as possible to the brakes. Like a ram-air hood scoop. I'm just not sure how effective it's going to be like that.

Can it be mounted higher up on the A-arm and closer to the brakes? Hard to tell in the picture. Pluse if you have the clearance, use something larger. Most brake ducting comes in 2 1/2 - 4" in size.

YES! Anything that improves airflow over the brakes WILL IMPROVE BRAKING.

As for this solution - not sure it will work - but at least it doesn't involve increasing pad size on the stock rotors!

use wheel fans or something, or buy the scoop kit dude.

i dont see how air coming in and doing a QUICK 90, and AIMED at the rim will do anything (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wacko.gif)

With the dust shield in place I'm limited as to where any air can be diverted.

I thought about drilling a large hole in the dust shields to feed air into.

I think this "scoop" will force more air into the space between the brake assembly and the wheel than without it.

I got the idea from looking at the dust shields on my F-350. They have little air scoops molded into them to collect air.


I don't know that any other fastener would make any differance. If it actually got hit at 70-100 mph I see it shattering immediately regardless. ( two zip ties in the pic ) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif)

Try some dryer hose "ducting". You can zip-tie it to the suspension and have it pointing straight at the caliper, or at the rotor if you prefer. Plus it is resilient and can take a little bit of a bump--and if it gets torn off, it isn't solid enough to do any real damage to the rest of the car as it exits. Or the next car, for that matter.

In the pic, the wheel is cranked all the way to the right to show the area. When the wheels are pointing forward I'm hoping the air will be forced int there.

I'm not conviced the "scoop" could be torn off.
What could I hit that wouldn't have aready sheared off my air dam?

I'll get rid of the dust shields when I do the front suspension bushings and front wheel bearings.

I think you guys are being too hard on Trekkor. I think he is on to something. I decided to take it one step further. I decided to put A/C in my car. I'll take it out tonight and see how the scotch tape holds up at speed. I put one top and one on the side to maximize airflow into the cabin.
