I am just curious if anyone else had a problem with the ball fitting into the cup when you tried to attach the accelerator pedal? I have tried putting a little silicone lube on the cup, but it still hasn't worked. Any other ideas to try?

Thanks,
Don

Don, I get a tight one every now and then(cable end that is) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) , I use a good amount of saliva and smack it hard with my fist. Works every time. Assuming the ball is the right size. They need to be tight to hold in place.

Nah uh. I removed the rod, put it in the vise and laid the plastic thingie over it. And whaled on it with a mallet. Nothing. Not a fucking thing. All I did was bend the throttle rod

I finally cut the cup out of my old pedal and bolted THAT to the new one. Worked like a charm.

Sorry guys, I misread the title as cable, not pedal.

Could we get a list of those who are having problems on this thread?

I could call the vendor and see if he has a solution, I know that they were working on one.

Any other ideas to try?

heat it up (the plastic part that is) using a blow-dryer.

that'll make the plastic a bit more flexible.
lube up the ball good and then pound it in.

if you don't heat it up, you have a good chance of cracking the plastic ...

Maybe heat the plastic and freeze the ball/rod

Yep,,, mechanic broke the plastic piece, got a new one on the way,, if this doesn't work I'm gonna do what larryp did. I thought about trying that, glad someone did it and it works. Thought about putting a dremel to the plastic piece and see if I couldn't enlarge that hole just enought to get the ball in there tight.

I have had trouble trying to get mine attached also. I could try the heating trick...if that doesn't work, who knows what I'll try next.

Chris R. had the same problem on Monday here at the shop and when we looked closely at the plastic piece we noticed that the hole is completely the wrong size so you'll never get it to pop in and stay there. In other words, the plastic piece you all got is garbage.

I tried again. I heated the plastic, lubed the cup, and tapped the rod with a plastic hammer. Now I have a broken cup. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif)
Who do I need to contact about getting another plastic piece for the back of the pedal? The old one is now useless.

Talk with Mike

Let him know that you were part of the 914club deal.

Let me know if there are any problems, I still have the reciept for the whole deal, and also the info on your particular purchase.

I am probably going to remove the plastic part and adapt the stock part from my stock pedal, I will work on this tomorrow.

sorry bout the preoblems

Tried mine on 2 different cars. Would not fit either. Did manage to bend pedal a bit using vise. If there's a quick and easy fix, I'll try it, but other than that they stay in the box.

I appreciate the help. Its definitely not your fault. Hell, I appreciate someone taking the time to put the group deal together for zero money and still trying to help everyone involved with their problems even though you have no ties to the company. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer.gif)
I am hoping for an amecable resolution to the situation, but if there are this many people on the board with the same problem, the company is probably aware of the issue and I will have "limited success" dealing with him (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) . I WILL give the benefit of the doubt and I'll let the board know what happens when I get in touch with Mike.

Later,
Don

Why not sand the ball stud down? It may work.
