I'm installing the column in Sandy's car. It has a washer switch with two hoses connected to the column switch. Anyone know which hose connects to the "P" side of the switch? One hose has an orange stripe on it. Is that the "P" pump hose?

Follow the hose to the spare tire...P is pressure I think.

Useless system...put a VW elec motor in there...it actually works.

Cool, I guess I could send some air up through there.

Its really easy to just tug and follow them...

One goes through the dash and right up to the washers.
The other one heads off for the washer bottle...

I leave them in order on top of each other so I dont get lost.

I honestly think it does not matter...its an open close valve.

BTW...got another Beetle today. Cant stand it any longer...need a fast one.

Rick - I usually just use the p-hose for long trips where I don't want to stop! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol-2.gif)

In deference to my esteemed 914 colleagues on here, I think that the spare tire air pressure system has always worked fine for the 130k in my 914 since I've owned it, and the hoses are cheaper to replace than a pump! It also forces you to keep track of your spare by having 40 lbs. in it, & when the squirter dribbles (so to speak! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) ) then you know it's either low on air or a hose is loose or cracked. It's the perfect K.I.S.S. solution for this situation, and saves the weight & complexity of a pump system.

... that's my 2 bits worth anyway (inflation & DM to Dollar devaluation since the 70's)! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
