The cold start valve should only operate when the ambient temp is very cold, and when the starter is engaged. Remove the valve and point it into a clear jar turn the switch on and see if fuel comes out when the fuel loop is pressurized .......if it does it is a leaker. If you want to test it for operation bypass the thermo switch and give it ground.....when the starter is engaged it should spray fuel into the jar.

In summer the plenum will be full of gas if it is stuck open very much. You can pull the air filter and look in.

get a piece of brake tubing the correct diameter and pull both fuel lines off the valve, route the fuel around it with the tubing in the middle of the two hoses.

Also unplug the electrics on the valve.

They do leak and dribble raw fuel into the intake when old.

No pics but it's simple
The cold start valve is shaped like a t splitter
Fuel comes in one side and goes out the other.
So. Pull off both fuel lines and put a piece of tubing inside both ends to connect them together....now no fuel will go through the cold start injector

I may be mistaken but isnt the cold valve #3 on the pic. Only one input?

ok, so its one port.
remove the t-connector in the fuel line.
OR, just simple plug it.

The objective is to stop putting any fuel at all into that injector.
